The popular phrase “There is only one mother, and like mine, none!” perfectly sums up what everyone knows: that the best mother in the world is each one of us. And every May, on Mother’s Day, all children have the opportunity to show the devotion they feel for their mother, to give thanks for her unconditional love, for always being there when we need her.

The ancient Greeks were the first to pay homage to Rhea, mother of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. The Romans to Cybele, goddess of mother earth and symbol of fertility. In Christian countries, they honored the Virgin Mary, celebrating the day of the Immaculate Conception, on December 8. This is Mother’s Day in some countries, such as Panama. In the 16th century in England, Sunday was established as a day to honor mothers. In 1905, the International Mother’s Day Association was created and in 1914, the US Congress approved the date of the second Sunday in May as a national holiday and declared it Mother’s Day.

There are many tourist plans to celebrate mom: Miami, New York, Aruba, Margarita Island, Dubai, etc., but undoubtedly giving mom a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, to travel the Land of Jesus, to encounter the root of God’s love, of that love that mothers are the best reflection, seems to be an unbeatable gift.

From this space we want to greet all the mothers in the Tourism sector and express our wish that you enjoy a very special Sunday in the company of your family and friends. Our admiration and respect for each one of you. Happy Mother’s Day!
